Lapsang Souchong
Sitting around the wood fire is a quintessential part of being in the mountains. For hundreds of years, boiling water over wood fires was also the primary way of making tea, and also preparing it. Lapsang souchong is prepared by smoke-drying the tea leaves over a pinewood fire, imparting the distinctive flavour of smoky pine.
According to some sources, lapsang souchong was the first black tea ever produced, in the Fujian province of China. A smooth crisp character with the remarkable and heady aroma of a pine and oak wood fire. It makes a wonderful breakfast tea for those who love strong, rich flavours to invigorate them in the morning.
